About Tanya Lee
As a naturopath and acupuncture provider with a strong foundation in biochemistry and integrative functional medicine, Dr. Tanya Lee's goal is to educate and empower her patients by helping them understand their body and health.
Dr. Lee received her Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry and Biomedical Sciences in 2005 from McMaster University, with a minor in history. She went on to receive her degree in naturopathic medicine from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in 2009, one of the only two accredited schools in Canada. She is currently a member of the Ontario Association of Naturopathic Doctors and the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors. Dr. Lee is certified to practise under the governing body of the College of Naturopaths of Ontario. She has written and passed the Therapeutics Prescribing Examination that is required in order for naturopathic doctors to prescribe medications, such as bioidentical hormones, and provide injectable therapies.
Dr. Lee provides evidence-based treatment approaches geared towards strengthening the body to help overcome health concerns and achieve health goals. Her integrative approach to medicine blends knowledge from biomedical sciences, botanical medicine, nutritional science and traditional Chinese medicine to find the most accurate diagnosis and effective treatment based on a patient’s individual health. Dr. Lee has been practising in both Toronto and Milton, Ontario, since 2010 and has been voted one of “Milton’s Favourite Naturopaths” in the growing Milton community every year since 2013.
Dr. Lee has a special interest in the area of immunology and how the immune system influences many other systems in the body, such as the digestive system and mental health. This interest has led to her constant pursuit to expand her knowledge in this area at institutions such as the University of Toronto, Institute of Functional Medicine and a number of integrative medical conferences to help further understand the intricacies of the immune system. Dr. Lee has experience in treating a wide variety of autoimmune conditions and other immune system conditions, such as asthma, eczema and allergies.
During her one-year internship at Robert Schad Naturopathic Clinic, Dr. Lee was selected to be on a competitive pediatric shift, increasing her skills, knowledge and exposure to pediatric patients. Since then, pediatrics has been made a special focus in her practice. Dr. Lee is certified as Defeat Autism Now! Doctor (Level I), providing her with extensive training and knowledge in the care of children with autistic spectrum disorders.
Furthermore, Dr. Lee has extensive training in biochemistry and pharmacology, which benefits patients in her ability to assess and treat hormone-related conditions and prescribed bio-identical hormones when indicated.
Aside from her practice, Dr. Lee enjoys spending time outside. Spring and summer are spent camping, canoeing, and foraging our Ontario forests for medicinal and edible herbs and mushrooms. Dr. Lee loves to stay active by cycling, running, and practicing yoga. Dr. Lee also keeps her right brain activated through playing music. Dr. Lee admits that she is still trying to master the whole work-life balance thing and strives to help her patients achieve similar goals. She believes that we can learn to live healthy and happy while still shamelessly enjoying the indulgences life has to offer.
