About Tamara Eriksen
Dr. Eriksen has been practicing in Sherwood Park for more than a decade. She is best known for hormone balancing and treating auto-immune and mental health concerns.
She has passion for functional medicine, tracing the origins of disease and dysfunction through the interrelated systems of the body – tying cellular and immuno-chemistry, microbiome and genetics to hormonal health, detoxification, autoimmune disease, neurological health, mental health/mood and cognition, pain management and more! This evidence-based approach is founded learning from her undergraduate studies in microbiology and genetics (UofA)
A formative background in dance informs how Dr. Eriksen views movement and biomechanics. To extend her treatment reach and facilitate pain management and injury recovery (acute and chronic) Dr. Eriksen has taken additional training in applied kinesiology, qi gong and advanced K-taping (kinesiotape.) Her current fascination is fascia and she is engaged in integrating learning from Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Chakra system with western evidenced-based data. This influences her overall approach to chronic pain as she considers both physical stressors and psycho-spiritual stress, trauma and developmental contributors to restriction, imbalance and pain.
Dr. Eriksen’s case approach is practical and pragmatic. And as a mom of two gregarious kids, she strives to engage patients the way she engages life… with compassion, curiosity and humor.
