ALREADY IN ADOLESCENCE, I was fascinated by the study of vitamins and their effects on health. I loved learning about grandma's ointments and other natural remedies. I also loved to cook: I copied hundreds of recipes for over a year ... tell you how food has always had an important place in my life. Yet, I never studied nutrition in my youth! I turned to computers, very fashionable at the time!
IT WAS WHEN I HAD MY FIRST SON,
at the age of 26, I then wondered about health and my new responsibilities as a mother. My son had a difficult birth and from his first months of life was overwhelmed with ear infections which made him suffer. He had a lot of colic. With hindsight, I understand why… At that time, I turned to natural therapies, in order to avoid taking antibiotics, which after several months did not give any results. It was unthinkable for me that my son would have to take these amounts of medication, at such a young age and without great results. I then got acquainted with chiropractic and homeopathy. It has helped my son a lot. I never made any dietary changes at that time ... I fed my children the same way I had been fed: lots of cooked food, dairy products, meats and lots of grains. Not to mention the refined sugars found in Vachon cupcakes, artificial juices and candies that were part of daily lunches.
Later, when my young son still had ear infection problems, I consulted naturopathic medicine, but still at this time, I did not have the necessary explanations to make significant changes. He was operated on at the age of 11 to remove adenoids, tonsils and tube tubes in his ears. I would have liked to have had the knowledge I have today, to make better choices. But I can't go back.
