About Sonya Doherty
Dr. Sonya Doherty, Naturopathic Doctor
Dr. Sonya Doherty is a licensed and board certified Naturopathic Doctor who is an active member of the CAND.
Training and Education
Sonya Doherty completed her undergraduate training at the University of Western Ontario in a Bachelor of Science Honors Kinesiology program. While completing her pre-med studies at Western University, she also competed with the UWO basketball team. In 2003, Sonya Doherty completed her Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto, ON. As a fourth year intern, Sonya worked at the Sherbourne Health Center with patients sufferring with HIV and AIDS.
Dr Dohertys Practice
Dr. Doherty believes in supporting development before pregnancy through healthy lifestyle as well as during pregnancy through an individualized Well Pregnancy and Baby Program. As a community volunteer, Sonya works with the Halton Baby Friendly Initiative to help support breastfeeding in the Halton region.
Dr. Sonya Doherty specializes in alternative treatment of Autism, ADD, ADHD, OCD, Tourettes Syndrome and learning disabilities. Sonya Doherty is a registered Defeat Autism Now! Doctor : She has completed her level I and II with The Autism Research Institute training providing her with the research and tools needed to help each child reach their developmental potential.
Biomedical Treatment
Biomedical treatment has the potential to help the majority of children on the autism spectrum. Not all children will benefit from biomedical but most children see significant developmental gains.
