About Shelley Burns
Dr. Shelley Burns is a licensed Naturopathic Doctor ; she completed the four-year program at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto, where she received the NaturoMedic Award for proficiency in Naturopathic Medicine. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology and Philosophy from Wilfred Laurier University and certification in Complementary and Integrative Medicine from the Harvard Medical School.
Shelley has taught the Phytotherapy Program in the areas of Obstetrics, Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Specialties in Phytotherapy, Physical Examination and Differential Diagnosis at Mohawk-McMaster University. She understands the importance of naturopathic education which brought her to supervise at the Robert Schad Naturopathic Clinic where she teaches her students using three principles – integrity, intention and confidence.
As a speaker Shelley has had the opportunity to address a diversity of groups both nationally and internationally. She was a columnist for the US publication – Skin Deep Magazine and she has been quoted in Maclean’s magazine, The Toronto Star, Fashion Magazine, Alternative Medicine Magazine, Your Best Health Magazine, The Medical Post. She has appeared in interviews on CTV and Zoomer Radio.
Shelley has always had a passion for moving her profession to the forefront and because of this upon graduation she joined the Board of Directors of the Ontario Association of Naturopathic Doctors (OAND). She eventually became the Chair of the Board and was an integral part of ensuring Naturopathic Doctors are able to practice to full scope.
