About Shannon Munkley
Dr. Shannon Munkley, HBA, N.D., Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine
Although I have always had a strong interest in medicine, health, and healing, it wasnt until I was introduced to the principles and philosophies of Naturopathic Medicine that I realized my true calling. I felt as though I had discovered a system of healthcare that would allow me to combine the tradition of medical science with the art of natural healing. After graduating from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (www.ccnm.edu), one of the six accredited Naturopathic medical schools in North America, I began my practice in Liberty Village, Toronto. I feel it is imperative to identify and treat the root cause of any symptom in order to allow for complete healing to occur. I also believe that we all have an innate capacity to heal and it is my job to facilitate and encourage that process in my patients. Recognizing the true uniqueness of every person, I work with my patients to develop individualized treatment plans. My therapies include: Clinical Nutrition, Acupuncture, Botanical Medicine, Homeopathy, Drainage and Detoxification, Hydrotherapy, Stress Management, and Lifestyle Counseling.
I currently have a general family practice, with a focus in digestive disorders, environmental and dietary allergies, immune system and hormonal imbalances, and whole-body detoxification. I see myself as an alternative medicine GP, as willing to treat the common cold as I am to address more complicated and chronic conditions. My mission as a Naturopathic Doctor is to educate, empower, and encourage my patients to take more responsibility for their health.
In addition to my private practice, I am a professor at the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition. I balance my career with all types of exercise, live music, and plenty of time outdoors with my beloved dog, a Collie-Shepherd mix named Ivy. I am licensed to practice Naturopathic Medicine in Ontario and am a member of the Ontario Association of Naturopathic Doctors (OAND) and the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors (CAND).
