About Misa Kawasaki
Why do I love being a Naturopathic Doctor? Because I get to practice medicine the way I believe it was meant to be. I still watch reruns of the TV shows Doc and Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman programs which model doctors with knowledge, integrity, patience, caring, community-?focus and treat patients as people, not as a disease. As a Naturopath, I feel these characteristics are very important and strive to achieve this with every new patient I see in my Richmond Hill naturopathic practice.
I also believe in treating the cause of disease, instead of just its symptoms. The body functions as one unit, and each organ system depends on another to work and heal properly. Whether it is digestive problems, menstrual cramps, eczema, food sensitivities, infertility, migraines, or insomnia, I thoroughly research my patients cases, consult with their other doctors, and perform diagnostic tests when necessary in order to determine where the root of the disease began. From this research, I can recommend dietary changes, natural remedies, acupuncture and lifestyle counselling to allow the body to heal itself.
In addition to my practice in Oak Ridges, I am also passionate about promoting wellness in the workplace because part of being healthy means a good balance between home and work. From 2004 2013, I was the on-?site Naturopathic Doctor for over 1500 head office employees at the Canadian Tire Corporation at Yonge and Eglinton where I saw patients one-?on-?one and also offered educational lunch seminars on a regular basis.
Choosing Naturopathic medicine means choosing a natural and lasting way towards health. When you are ready for this next part of lifes challenges, I will be there to guide you on your journey. The hard work will be yours, but it will all be worth it.
