About Michael Long
Dr. Michael Long, Fergus Naturoapthic Doctor, uses an evidence based approach to natural health. His practice focuses on clinical nutrition with a special interest in weight loss and sports medicine. Michael is passionate about helping people discover the power of nutrition in achieving and maintaining their best self, and has helped guide many people to their goals through customized eating/lifestyle programs and compassionate support throughout their journey. In addition, Michael is experienced in working with athletes ranging from casual through to elite professionals to optimize performance, improve recovery time, and heal from injuries.
Michael regularly treats many chronic and lifestyle related illnesses including diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, depression, and obesity. Patients are evaluated objectively with routine blood work, nutritional assessment, physical examination, and orthopaedic testing. Treatment methods generally include dietary nutrition, vitamin injections, counseling, stretching/strengthening exercises, supplementation, and/or acupuncture.
Michael graduated from the 4-year naturopathic doctor program at the Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine (BINM) as valedictorian. Prior to this, he attended the University of British Columbia, where he obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree in Genetics with Deans Honours. While a student, he excelled as both an academic and leader, fulfilling all requisite criteria while graduating amongst the top of the class, serving as a Governor on the Boucher Institute Board, and working as a teaching assistant. He is the recipient of many academic and service scholarships: UBC Undergraduate Scholars Scholarship, Science Service Award, Nicole Robinson Memorial Scholarship, Institute for Natural Medicine Scholars Scholarship, and the prestigious Spirit of Boucher award.
Michael is licensed by the College of Naturopaths of Ontario, and is a member of the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors and the Ontario Association of Naturopathic Doctors.
