About Mary Welch
In memory of Dr. Mary Welch DC, ND
When I think of Mary, I sense her calming and graceful presence. She was filled with so much love and caring; healing and nurturing were her second nature. She was so incredibly generous with her time, energy, resources, and attention to her patients, friends, colleagues and students. She was such a great listener and people always felt heard by her, never feeling judged. She carried a powerful, yet gentle presence and the support she gave was always rock solid.
Mary was always so genuine and sincere; there was nothing fake about her. She had the highest integrity of anyone that I know. As a business partner, I could always count on her. Over the last 10 years that we worked and built our clinic together, I could not have asked for a better business partner. The harmony we had with each other made any decision easy.
Mary had a thirst for knowledge and often joked that if she won the lottery, she would travel the world to take seminars. She never tired of learning; to her, learning was as essential as breathing.
Mary was very devoted to the naturopathic profession, even though her dedication came at a considerable financial and health cost to her. I saw how hard she worked for the transition council over the last 4 years. She worked six days a week to juggle her growing practice and thousands of hours of meetings, paperwork and teleconferences with the council. Marys impact upon our profession is immeasurable, but her impact upon my life and the lives of her employees, colleagues, friends and patients cannot be described with words; only that each heartbeat she has touched, she has touched with kindness and love, and we are all better people for it.
