About Mahalia Freed
People who receive naturopathic care with Mahalia Freed feel better.
Her clients get pregnant, get energized, overcome anxiety and depression, leave digestive health concerns behind. From allergies to PMS, IBS to fatigue, Dr Mahalia Freed listens, and you get results.
As a kid, Mahalia climbed a lot of trees, and fell out of them only once or twice. Mahalia was 12 when she did her first project on plant medicine. It would have been sooner but that was the first time her teachers offered her an open-ended choice of what to learn about. When she was having tummy aches and headaches at school at age 10, it was naturopathic care that dramatically improved her health, and sparked her interest in healing through diet, herbs, and homeopathy. Mahalia loves naturopathic medicine so much – the principles it operates from, the healing potential it offers, the power of our own bodies that it highlights – that she was willing to give up balance in her own life for 4 more years after she finished her undergraduate degree and did some exploring, in order to attend the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM). Many (hundreds of?) exams later, she is a registered, Ontario-licensed member of the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors. As a grown-up, Mahalia continues to feel so lucky, and so honored, to be doing something she loves for a living.
What kind of Naturopathic Doctor is she?
Mahalia is an educator. She is a past faculty member at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine, where she lectured in Women’s Health and facilitated small group learning in Botanical Medicine.
“My role as an ND is to help people access their body’s innate healing potential by identifying & removing obstacles, and choosing treatments that support health from the inside out.” Dr Mahalia Freed says, “As healer, coach, detective, and teacher, my honor is to be a witness in your health journey.”
Mahalia’s family practice includes a special focus in endocrinology, mental health, oncology, fertility, and perinatal care. Her clients range in age from 6 weeks to 75 years, and encompass many genders. As a speaker and workshop facilitator, Mahalia enjoys doing public education in areas including natural medicine for hormone balancing (polycystic ovarian syndrome or PCOS, PMS, fertility), pregnancy, stress & digestion, emotions and health, and complementary care for cancer prevention and treatment.
