Dr. Doran came to Naturopathic Medicine through her own struggles with Endometriosis in her early 20s. Lisa was told as a young woman that she would probably never have children because of the severity of her Endo. This devestating news lead Lisa to try surgery and medication without satisfactory results. Lisa was fortunate enough to have the guidance of a wonderful GP who was open minded enough to suggest that within the mainstream system of medicine, besides more surgery and stronger drugs, there really wasnt a lot that could be offered to treat the symptoms she was experiencing and give her hope for the family she knew someday she wanted. Her GP referred her to a local Naturopathic Doctor and after 9 months of working with this ND and making some enormous changes in her lifestyle and health, Lisa was symptom free, off of all medication and was astonishing her gynecologist with her recovery. Lisa went on to conceive and deliver three healthy babies and is thrilled that she is surrounded by her children as they grow up. Lisa maintains her very healthy and active lifestyle and 20 years later her Endometriosis remains in remission.
Lisa Dorans personal philosophy is getting back to the basics with health: Choices in health care, good food, good water, fresh air, exercise, stress management, and personal fulfillment. Lisa Doran lives with her partner of 19 years and their three homebirthed and growing sons ( ages 16, 13 and 9 ) and balances her busy professional life with her joy in mothering, her love of the outdoors, urban farming, bread baking, celtic-fiddling and fiber arts.
