About Kim Callaghan

I have been practicing naturopathic medicine since 2001 and I’ve been using naturopathic medicine, myself, since 1992! I see mostly women and children and focus on hormones (pregnancy, fertility, menopause, endometriosis, PCOS, adolescence, and more), mental health issues (trauma, depression, anxiety bipolar, and more), and children’s health (ADHD, asthma, allergies, tummy troubles, ear infections, and more). I am passionate about helping clients feel well so they can enjoy a full and resilient life. One of the things I love about my job is that every patient is unique and I get to come up with a fresh plan for each one.

I was 20 when I first went to see a Naturopath for some digestive complaints. Not only did the digestive issues resolve, but many things I thought were normal cleared up too. PMS, trouble with sleep, hormonal ups and downs, allergies and asthma – all improved drastically. The ND told me that everything in the body is connected and communicates with each other, so of course the other things improved too. So logical. So, I decided to be a Naturopathic Doctor too. And here I am.

I see a variety of patients and feel privileged to hear each person’s information. I try to listen closely, put together some pieces of the puzzle and work on finding the underlying reasons for their diagnosis or discomfort. Then, together, we make a plan for changes. Some people I see are very unwell and others feel pretty good but would like to work on prevention or tweak their health. I prefer to work as a team and often refer to GP’s, specialists, therapists, chiropractors, osteopaths, and other professionals.

I am a graduate of the 4 year naturopathic medical program at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine and my undergraduate degree is in English Literature from York University. With the art and science backgrounds, I look at problems from many angles and also step back to see the whole picture. I use evidence-based solutions and individualized protocols for each client. And I try to help the patient understand what is going on in their body by drawing pictures, translating medical speak into regular language, and helping the patient find connections.

I am an active member of the federal and provincial naturopathic associations, CAND and OAND, as well as an ongoing discussion group for ND’s in practicing with labour and birth and babies and I sit on the Program Advisory Committee at CCNM. I have 2 kids aged 14 and 11 and I find them entirely delightful and bewildering. In my spare time I knit, crochet, watch goofy movies, volunteer at my kids’ schools, go hiking and camping and skiing and generally try to laugh.
