About Karen Maloney-Younker
Karen Maloney-Younker is a licensed naturopathic doctor, recently graduated from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine. Prior to studying naturopathy Karen worked as a personal trainer and strength and conditioning specialist working with clients to help them improve their health, fitness and athletic performance. She graduated from the Western University with a degree in psychology and kinesiology and maintained certification as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist (NSCA-CSCS), Stott Pilates Instructor and Spinning Instructor while working in the fitness industry.
While exercise and good nutrition are the foundation of health, Karen felt there was a missing link and was seeing clients that needed additional help to improve or sustain health. After seeing a naturopathic doctor herself and seeing an improvement in her own health, she was inspired to pursue this as a career.
Treatment modalities used by naturopathic doctors include botanical medicine, homeopathy, nutrition and supplements, acupuncture and Asian medicine as well as physical modalities and lifestyle counseling and support. The goal of treatment is to support the body’s own ability to heal and to use the aforementioned modalities to gently bring the body back into balance. Symptomatic relief may also be used while working towards healing the underlying cause of disharmony.
