About Jorge R Lopez
I graduated from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine with a Bachelor in Naturopathy on May 2014. I also hold a Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Puerto Rico and a Master Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M University. My appreciation for Green Building Designs, Mind-Body Medicine and my Love for Nature led me to become a Naturopathic Doctor. As a Professional Engineer I had extensive experience in designing spaces that promote pollutants reduction and I had first hand experience inspecting sick buildings and the effects on occupants health. It is these experiences that led me to study ways to promote health from a patient centred perspective. I found in Naturopathic Medicine the philosophy and application of Natural Principles that work efficently by looking at the whole picture of a person. I support empowering patients to take their Health to a higher level by addressing its root cause using therapeutic approaches such as Asian Medicine, Naturopathic Acupuncture, Botanical Medicine, Homeopathy, Clinical Nutrition and Counseling.
I am trained in the HeartMath Interventions program that is based on the use of breath and positive emotions to re-focus and re-structure maladaptive emotional patterns and behaviours. This evidence based approach to Mind-Body Medicine is part of the techniques I use to promote successful aging and support those suffering from stress, anxiety, depression, anger and its consequences.
I am a Yoga Teacher with Certifications from Ashtanga Yoga Puerto Rico and Tula Yoga Toronto. I practice Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga and teach a modified series that is appropriate for all levels of practice. By teaching breathing, focusing and posture I am able to support the physical body, thoughts and emotions for a balanced approach to a healthy lifestyle. For athletes and those looking for an advanced practice, I am also certified and offer Rocket Yoga, which merges poses from more advanced Ashtanga series into a flow for a challenging practice.
