About Joanna Thiessen
Dr. Joanna was born in Calgary and grew up in Toronto. From a young age, she was treated with herbal medicines and homeopathic remedies by her mom who had a keen interest in alternative therapies. Dr. Joanna studied Biology at the University of Guelph, and after becoming a patient of a local Naturopathic Doctor and experiencing first-hand the incredible care provided, she knew she was on the right path.
Dr. Joanna graduated from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in 2006 and started her family practice in Waterloo in 2007. Along the way her family has grown to include three healthy children, all born with the help of HypnoBirthing and midwifery care. Dr. Joanna and her husband enjoy exploring the world and experiencing different cultures. Together they spent a year volunteering and traveling in Madagascar and Southern Africa. Her life was enriched by the wonderful people whom she met in Africa, and these experiences served to strengthen her desire to help people achieve better health.
Dr. Joanna is passionate about both her work as a Naturopathic Doctor, and her important job as a mom. When not at the clinic, Dr. Joanna can be found playing at the park, experimenting with new recipes in her kitchen, or enjoying live music with her family.
