About Joanna Sparrow
After receiving her undergraduate degree in Kinesiology from McMaster University in 1999, Joanna continued her studies at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto. She graduated as a naturopathic doctor in 2004 and first began practicing in Vancouver, BC in a multidisciplinary health clinic. After then spending time abroad and the birth of her first son she returned to her native Burlington, ON with her family to live and work. She is registered with the College of Naturopaths of Ontario (CONO) and is a member of the OAND, CAND, and Pediatric Association of Naturopathic Physicians (PedANP). Joanna also completed her 200-hour Yoga Teacher Certification, Restorative Yoga Teacher Training, and Kids Yoga Teacher Training. She naturally combines yoga philosophy with naturopathic principles for disease prevention and health promotion. Joanna is passionate about teaching people how they can improve their health using dedicated self-care and naturopathic modalities, and she is continually inspired by her patients’ commitment to change.
Joanna’s special interest is in helping people manage stress and anxiety, which are commonly the root of many conditions including insomnia, hormonal imbalances, and digestive disturbances. Joanna offers specific modalities for stress and anxiety management including mindfulness exercises, lifestyle counselling, clinical nutrition, restorative yoga and acupuncture, and guided breath work.
Away from her practice, Joanna shares yoga and mindfulness with school-aged children. She also keeps up with her 2 active sons, husband, and puppy. Along with homework, hockey, and soccer, she enjoys yoga, drinking tea, creative pursuits, hiking in the woods, reading (mostly fiction) and downhill skiing.
