About Jennifer Mackenzie
Dr. MacKenzie is a licensed Naturopathic Doctor with a clinical focus in Women’s Health, Digestive Health and Auto-immune conditions. Her approach to medicine is to offer a comprehensive health assessment, including a focused physical exam and laboratory testing. Dr. MacKenzie uses a combination of safe and effective natural medicine such as nutrition and lifestyle counselling, herbal medicine, acupuncture, IV Nutrient Therapy and Bowen Therapy. She has also done addition training to obtain her prescriptive authority to ensure prescription medication is an option when necessary. In practice, she tailors each of her treatment plans to meet the needs of her patients while considering their goals, values and lifestyles.
Dr. MacKenzie believes that a healthy lifestyle is built on a foundation using building blocks of habits, rituals and mindfulness. The building blocks are unique to every individual but can include: eating nutritious food, exercise, quality sleep, drinking plenty of water, expressing your creativity and time with friends and family. Through listening, education and support Dr. MacKenzie will help to build your foundational health.
Dr. MacKenzie obtained her BSc.(Hons.) in Nutritional Sciences from the University of Guelph. During her time there she contributed to a research study on the effect of diet in patients with Type 2 diabetes, demonstrating the power of food as medicine. She then attended the CNME accredited institution The Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine to graduate as a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine. Dr. MacKenzie also practices at Connect Health and enjoys the integrative approach to medicine. The collaboration with other healthcare practitioners has taught her that patient-centered care and a team approach to healthcare can truly accelerate the path to whole health. She is a Board Certified Naturopathic Doctor in good standing with the provincial regulating body (CNPBC) and the national regulating body (CAND). As a naturopathic doctor she is trained in the therapeutic use of nutrition and supplements, herbal medicine, physical medicine and homeopathy.
