About Jane Reside
I'm a licensed, board-certified Naturopathic Doctor (ND), in practice in Victoria, BC since 2001, and I am the sole owner of my business. My office is in the heart of Fernwood Village, and I also serve the population of Pender Island, where I lived and practiced from 2012 to 2016.
My first career was in professional modern dance - I was one of those kids who started at about 6 years old, and by the time I was 18, I was dancing professionally. My career lasted 8 years, and while I was dancing I had the good fortune to cross paths with many health care professionals. One of those was a naturopath in Toronto, as a 'last resort' when medical doctors couldn't help me with a health issue that had plagued me for a year. After two visits with her, I was back to normal. I was gobsmacked. Her complete understanding of the workings of the body, and her systematic and thorough approach to putting the pieces of the puzzle together made a profound impact on me, and that's when the seed was planted for what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. At 25, I got that ball rolling.
In addition to my practice, I have a love of teaching. I was a faculty member of our local West Coast College of Massage Therapy (WCCMT) where I taught for over 8 years, instructing anatomy, physiology, research, statistics, general pathology, nutrition, and basic medications to newly trained RMT's. Most recently I became a Term Faculty member at Camosun College in the School of Health & Human Services. I've also been serving my community for over 20 years, through free workshops and seminars to the general public, on a wide variety of health-related topics.
