About Glenda Clark
What motivates me is a genuine desire to educate and empower people to help them live healthier lives. In my many years of study and practice, I have heard countless stories of how peoples well-being has been improved by making some simple yet effective changes in diet and lifestyle.
What do I like about my daily tasks? I thrive on coaching and supporting people to adopt healthy life habits and then seeing the smiles on their faces when they report how much better they feel. I also enjoy working in a profession I believe in, especially one that is ever-growing and evolving.
Researching new and alternative ways to prevent and treat diseases that affect all ages is a deeply rewarding challenge. Of course, I also love the diversity of working with people at all stages in the pursuit of optimal health; those who are just beginning to learn and those who have been making healthy lifestyle choices for many years.
Personal Experience
From her early teen years, Glenda Clark became interested in naturopathic health care when she consulted with a nutritionally-oriented healthcare provider for health issues she was dealing with at the time.
He taught her that all symptoms of health imbalance are an attempt by the body to communicate to us and to provide direction for us to respond to the dysfunction. They are signals for us to change what we are doing that is creating the symptom.
When we change what we are doing (and not merely suppressing the symptom with medication) and provide the body with the building blocks it needs, the body will then have an opportunity to self balance and heal. This made perfect sense!
Educational Background
Being interested in the sciences and healthcare, Glenda studied Biochemistry at McMaster University. She graduated in 1986 and received an Honours B.Sc. During the four-year program, she studied nutritional biochemistry and the intricate details of cellular function and how each and every cell in the body requires specific nutrients, such as vitamins, minerals and amino acids in order to keep the whole body functioning optimally.
After graduating from university, she decided to further her education by attending the four-year program at The Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (formerly the Ontario College of Naturopathic Medicine). During her schooling at CCNM, she studied clinical nutrition, botanical (herbal) medicine, homeopathy, acupuncture, traditional Chinese medicine and pharmacology.
Glenda graduated as top student in 1990 and immediately following graduation, she established the first naturopathic practice in Barrie, Ontario.
