About Giacomina Gucciardi-Mercurio
My name is Dr. Giacomina Gucciardi and I have been practicing naturopathic medicine for 23 years.
I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease 53 years ago, a time when no one had heard of “gluten-free” and when little to no food options were available. From this diagnosis, I came to understand firsthand the challenges one faces when having to make dietary and lifestyle changes in order to improve their health. Being Italian, my family and I struggled with the food restrictions but grew to learn the absolute and fundamental connection between what one ate and how it impacted their health. This spurred my passion and deep understanding of gastrointestinal health and its profound effect on one’s overall health.
I graduated from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in 1997, where I completed a four-year doctorate program.
Prior to naturopathic studies, I attended the University of Toronto and completed a Bachelor of Science degree. I continued my education by training with Jane Lyttleton, one of the world’s leading experts in the Treatment of Infertility with Traditional Chinese Medicine. With acupuncture, I have been helping patients with fertility, IVF enhancement, and pregnancy.
Outside of my clinical practice, I am committed to educating the public on Naturopathic medicine. I have lectured at Seneca College on the subject of gastrointestinal health and I have led a series of “lunch and learn” lectures with the Royal Bank of Canada. I am licensed in Ontario through the Board of Drugless Practitioners- BDDT-N.
