He was a founding member of the Northwest Naturopathic Physicians Convention, serving on the committee continuously from 1957 to present. He was also a founding member of the Northwest Naturopathic Physicians Association and the Canadian Naturopathic Foundation.
He was a charter member of the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors, serving in nearly every executive position, including president. He now holds lifetime membership with that organization, as well as with the British Columbia Naturopathic Association, the College of Naturopathic Physicians of British Columbia and the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College.
Accomplishments
Dr. Gerald has written two publications about the history of naturopathic medicine. He also co-authored the history of the Canadian Naturopathic Foundation.
In 2006, he was the recipient of Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors’ Verna Hunt Award for outstanding contribution to naturopathic medicine.
In 2009, he was awarded the honorary doctorate Doctor of Laws by the National College of Natural Medicine in Portland, Oregon.
Dr. Gerald has served the naturopathic medical profession tirelessly since his retirement from active practice, having attended or lectured at all naturopathic medical schools in North America.
Specialization
Dr. Gerald was a general practitioner with special interest in laboratory medicine, physical medicine, women’s health and cardiovascular health. Working alongside his brother, Dr. Earl Farnsworth and later his son, Dr. Todd Farnsworth, Dr. Gerald served his patients for 65 consecutive years, delivering a broad scope of naturopathic medical care.
Interests
His personal interests include flying (he owned his own aircraft), hunting, fishing, travelling, spending time with family and furthering the naturopathic medical profession.
