In His Own Words
Going to the doctor has always been an arduous affair. First there is the nagging symptom that just doesn’t go away—its presence a constant reminder that something is not quite right. Or perhaps you’ve already been given a diagnosis and tried a myriad of therapies geared to that particular problem, but nothing seems to work.
To seek out help for a concern that is occurring in your body can be a trial. It can be frightening to feel that your body is betraying you and frustrating to find no cure.
As a Naturopathic Doctor, I have tried to appreciate and understand how this situation is for each and every patient who comes to see me. In my practice, people come for a wide range of problems, from the acute: sports injuries, car accidents, repetitive strain trauma - to the chronic: inability to lose weight, chronic fatigue or sleep and anxiety issues, infection, hypertension, immune compromise or stress reactions.
The major tenet of Naturopathic Medicine, Vis Mediatrix Naturae - our body’s ability to heal itself - to self rectify or to find its own way, may sound like an abstraction or theory, but my experience has shown me that this is the only way to resolve health concerns. There is rarely a cookie cutter illness-therapy combination that works for everyone.
My practice is concerned with finding the way that your body can regain balance and cure itself. Not all illnesses can be cured – and at times, it is simply the quality of our life that may be the grounds by which we may experience a “healing.”
After thirty-five years of practice, it is the unique strengths that each of us draws on that is the constant amazement to me.
