    About Daniel Lander

As the Director of the CCNM Integrative Cancer Centre, Daniel is leading a healthcare model for patients with cancer based on integrating scientifically grounded, evidence-informed complementary medicine.

Daniel’s interest in the healing power of nature began as a young boy when he would spend his summers identifying and learning about the medicinal plants growing wild in the woods behind his grandmother’s cottage in New Hampshire. This knowledge, that nature possesses the ability to promote healing and wellness, inspired him to follow a career in naturopathic medicine.

Daniel received his premedical education at the University of Guelph, earning an Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Nutritional and Nutraceutical Sciences. He then went on to graduate from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM) in 2006. During this time, he developed a strong interest in cancer care and went on to complete a two-year hospital-based residency in integrative oncology at the Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Upon completion of his residency program, he joined CTCA as a staff naturopathic oncologist where he continued to practice for an additional two years. Dan is also a fellow of the American Board of Naturopathic Oncology (FABNO).

Outside of his clinical role at the CCNM Integrative Cancer Centre, Daniel is an Associate Professor at CCNM, where he teaches Naturopathic Oncology and supervises 4th year interns in their clinical rotations. He is also the director of CCNM’s Naturopathic Oncology Residency Program. He regularly shares his expertise in integrative oncology through educational talks for other practitioners in the medical community, including at international conferences and at local area hospitals and cancer treatment centers.

Daniel is a strong proponent of naturopathic oncology as an area of focus within naturopathic medicine and presently serves on the Board of Directors of the American Board of Naturopathic Oncology. Prior to this, he served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Oncology Association of Naturopathic Physicians and is a member of the Society for Integrative Oncology. He is also an advocate for the regulation of naturopathic medicine and while living in Oklahoma held terms as the President and the Vice-President of the Oklahoma Association of Naturopathic Physicians.

In Daniel’s practice at the CCNM Integrative Cancer Centre, his mission is to support people living with cancer and to facilitate their individual healing process by working with natural therapies before, during, and after conventional treatment. He has seen how much people can benefit from naturopathic support in decreasing the side effects of other therapies as well as helping people recover and get back to themselves following cancer treatment.
