About Cynthia Hnatko
In addition to being a Naturopathic Doctor, I am also a mother to 3 young children. I practice Naturopathic family health care with a focus on women’s & children’s health, fertility, & perinatal care.
Before studying Naturopathic Medicine at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine, I completed a degree in Nursing at Ryerson University. I developed a passion for working with pregnant women and infants while working as a Registered Nurse for Public Health’s Healthy Babies, Healthy Children program in Ontario. My work in hospital Labour & Delivery, and Post-partum programs motivated me to become a Doula and provide support for women wanting a natural birth experience.
I feel my background in both conventional medicine and alternative healthcare provide me with a balanced perspective when treating patients. I believe in integrative multi-disciplinary healthcare, providing treatments that compliment the care you may already be receiving from other health care practitioners.
I take a patient-centered approach to care using individual treatment plans in which the patient is an active participant in all health care decisions. I believe in using food as medicine whenever possible and that healing begins in the gut. I am passionate about teaching parents how they can give their children the best start in life, beginning with the choices made during pre-conception, pregnancy, and birth. I enjoy working with people of all ages to help them create optimal health and prevent illness as they move through life.
I am licensed to practice Naturopathic Medicine in Alberta through the College of Naturopathic Doctors of Alberta (CNDA) as well as a member of the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors (CAND).
