About Courtney Clayson
A little bit about me – I am a Naturopathic Doctor, a Birth Doula, a mom, and an entrepreneur. I attended Wilfrid Laurier University for both my Undergraduate degree and Masters’ Degree in Integrative Biology, with a focus in Botany. During this time, I learned the true power of natural medicines, by seeking naturopathic care myself. After having so much success and seeing a significant change in my health in such little time, I decided to deepen my understanding of these medicines by continuing my education even further at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine. During my time at the college, I focused on fertility, pre & postnatal care, along with sports medicine and pain management. Since graduation I have taken additional certification in cosmetic and facial rejuvenation acupuncture, the naturopathic birth doula program, and MSK-related cupping, acupuncture, and physical therapies.
More recently, I married my best friend, and became a first-time mom to a healthy baby girl. During my time at school I focused on my own preconception health, to make sure I was in the best space, both physically and mentally, before trying to conceive. I continued to apply these health principles during both pregnancy and postpartum, and hope to share and encourage these principles with those I work with. As a working mother, entrepreneur, and athlete, I have a keen interest in maintaining the balance of the health and well-being of individuals of all persuasions; whether they be at home, at work, or both. More importantly, I understand the unique challenges women face today in taking care of themselves while trying to get pregnant, raising vibrant, healthy children and/or succeeding at their careers, and hope to work with you to rise above these challenges.
In my free time I love to be active, whether playing Ultimate Frisbee, weight training, walking in nature, practicing yoga or hanging out at a favourite spot for a really good Matcha Latte. I have come to understand the incredible benefits of moving our bodies and making room for gentle lifestyle changes, in order to enhance our lives and heal ourselves.
I look forward to working with you!
