About Christina Carew
I have always held the belief that everything in life happens for a reason. Your journey is tangled and twisted (feeling like an impossible mission) so that when you find the reason for your journey, you know it.
First Truth: Connection
Connection My mind is like an overgrown database. I love meeting people and connecting them with other people that I know. These introductions lead to amazing friends, lovers, partners, colleagues, or sources of that perfect something. I have really strong relationships with my friends, and my patients are like family. I want everyone to succeed, be happy, find health, and spread their love forward into the world. What drew me to medicine, the fact that I loved connecting ideas. Connecting all these pieces of research and knowledge about the body for the person I’m with, is epic.
Second Truth: Clarity
Clarity - Dr. Christina CarewI love analogies and puns. I’m a visual learner so it is important for me to paint a picture for my patients. This approach can help explain what is happening in a way that is meaningful and relevant. Sometimes this involves a diagram (I am wicked with a wipe board), others a candid story. I have one patient that says, I really don’t understand all that science stuff but I remember the analogies you use and that makes me want to make a change. (Yeah, win for stories!)
Third Truth: Empowerment
Empowerment - Dr. Christina CarewWe live in a world where everyone is power-hungry. In this battle of egos, we often find that individuals hold back or don’t explain critical information. This can leave us feeling vulnerable and without informed choices. I believe that everyone has the right, and ability, to make their own decisions about their life (and their health). Everyone deserves to have all the information available that will allow them to make a decision that is right for them.
I won’t always agree with all decisions (my family will support me in that statement), but I will always respect and support them. I know how scary it is to not know what is happening to our bodies, our minds, or our loved ones.
