About Carin Matsushita
Dr. Carin Matsushita is a licensed Naturopathic Physician and Registered Acupuncturist. She received her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology at Simon Fraser University and earned her Doctor in Naturopathic Medicine and Master of Science in Acupuncture at Bastyr University in Seattle, Washington. After travel abroad for several years, stubborn skin and digestive conditions led Dr. Carin to become a patient. She repeatedly received prescriptions that provided only temporary relief and even added new symptoms. It became clear that her original symptoms indicated deeper imbalances that could not be cured with a magic pill. Finally, through naturopathic medicine, Dr. Carin discovered lasting improvements in skin and digestion and specific knowledge of what she needed to optimize her individual constitution. She also observed the power of Traditional Chinese Medicine as it alleviated family members with Bells Palsy and chronic pain conditions where conventional treatment options were limited. These experiences redefined her purpose: to help people in the community discover health and vitality through understanding where their symptoms come from and addressing their underlying imbalances.Dr. Carins practice focuses on pain management, skin and digestion issues, womens health, unexplained fatigue and mood issues.
More than just a state free from pain and disease, health is the balance of the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual allowing us the freedom to live meaningful and purposeful lives.
In addition to serving patients, Dr. Carin loves to connect with family, friends and the community. You may see her around Richmond singing with her community choir or taking a dance class at the community centre. She also enjoys travel, including exploring the ocean by sailing and diving.Dr. Carin is a member of the College of Naturopathic Physicians of BC, BC Naturopathic Association, Canadian Naturopathic Association of Doctors and College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of BC
