About Avram Sussman
“Doctor Avi” is the name that patients have affectionately given to Dr. Avram Sussman, B.Sc., D.C., N.D., naturopath, chiropractor, and researcher. This nickname hints at Dr. Sussman’s caring, professional relationship with his patients, his casual demeanour, and his infectious sense of humour.
Dr. Avi’s patients would tell you that he brings exceptional knowledge to his practice, along with an intuitive gift that bridges the gap between physical symptoms and their emotional origins. He says, “I encourage my patients to actively participate in their healing process and I am happy to provide them with the means to take a pro-active role in their own health and well-being”.
Dr. Sussman began practicing health care as a chiropractor, after graduating from The Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in 1979. To add depth and scope to his practice, Sussman sought techniques and methods from a great number of additional sources, emphasizing mind-body medicine, psycho-spiritual approaches, aboriginal healing and intuitive rebalancing of the human energy field. He studied Applied Kinesiology and Naturopathic Medicine, graduating from The Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in 1987. As both a naturopathic doctor and chiropractor, Dr. Sussman trained in a broad spectrum of healing modalities, which he has integrated into a framework of total person health care.
Not only has his work over the past 38 years emphasized the musculo-skeletal, toxicological, environmental and nutritional concerns of patients, it has focused on helping them to identify and address recurrent or chronic disease patterns, and the mental, emotional or spiritual origins of these disturbances.
Since 1999, this work has evolved to include the use of music as a primary healing modality and an effective tool for emotional body healing. Dr. Sussman has pioneered research into the beneficial effects of music on the human energy field. By making conscious those feelings that have been denied expression, the music helps patients to identify, resonate and defuse the emotional origins of pain and disease.
