About Andrea Hill
I am a licensed, board certified Naturopathic Doctor, currently practicing at two locations in the Greater Toronto area. Visit the Contact page for my practice locations. My educational career includes an honours Arts and Science degree in Biology and Anthropology from the University of Guelph, and in 2011 I graduated from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine. I am a member of both the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors, and the Ontario Association of Naturopathic Doctors.
My interest in public health & medicine started in high-school, but it was not until after my university degree that I really got exposed to Naturopathic Medicine. A visit to an ND in my hometown of Collingwood got me feeling better, and my interest was sparked! In shadowing this ND, I was drawn to the personable nature of the work, the constant new learning experiences and challenges, and both the intuition and science of working with natural remedies. Following university I travelled to Kenya, and while working as a fundraising coordinator for mobile medical clinics there, I witnessed the power that integrative healthcare had in such a dramatically different environment. I think my experiences overseas confirmed my interest and beliefs in what sustainable healthcare should be; and Naturopathic Medicine has proved to be my way of living and sharing that vision and experience with others.
I maintain a family-based practice, and currently work with people of all ages, with a variety of health concerns both acute and chronic. My particular areas of experience and interest include:
Pregnancy, labour-preparation & post-partum care
Pediatric care including common childhood concerns such as eczema, allergies, asthma ADD/ADHD & digestive concerns
Perimenopause/Menopause Support including the use of hormone testing and alternative hormone replacement therapies
Insomnia
Weight management & Naturopathic Detoxification
Digestive Concerns including gas/bloating, IBS, constipation, heartburn, food intolerances & sensitivities
Acute and chronic respiratory conditions including Asthma, Sinusitis, and Allergies
Mental health including stress management, depression, anxiety & smoking cessation support
Some more personal tidbits about me
I live in the city of Toronto, which I love
. but Im a country girl at heart. I love spending my free-time outdoors, and I truly believe it is the best medicine!
I am a foodie! I was very fortunate to grow up in a home that loved and celebrated eating and preparing good food. I actually aspired to be a chef as a child (probably still do and consider it still
), read Gourmet magazine and cookbooks regularly. I am passionate about the benefits of eating locally, farmers markets, and vegetables. I love to cook (and eat!), food that is nourishing and delicious; and I LOVE sharing my personal experiences in the kitchen. Follow me on Twitter and Instagram for more foodie stuff
I have had the great fortune of travelling throughout Canada & Europe, and have spent extended periods of time in both Great Britain and Kenya; studying and volunteering. My experiences overseas really helped shape the person I am today, and I look forward to further travels in the future. I have a deep interest in experiential tourism; I love to learn about different cultures, their traditions and practices.
