About Ana Lopez
Dr. Ana Lopez received her naturopathic training at the Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine in New Westminster, BC. Her passion for naturopathic medicine began after her own experience with allergies and treatment by an ND. She immediately fell in love with naturopathic philosophy and decided she would become a naturopathic doctor herself. Prior to her medical training, Dr Lopez earned her BSc in Cell biology and Genetics from UBC and spent 5 years working in various laboratories in the research, medical diagnostic, and biotechnology fields.
In her practice, Dr. Lopez believes in empowering her patients through education, choice and working together to create a treatment plan that her patients can adhere to. Dr Lopez strives to get to the root cause of ailments while alleviating any immediate symptoms. Following naturopathic philosophy, her treatments are tailored to the individual and take into account all aspects of a persons physical, emotional and spiritual well-being. Dr Lopez believes that many conditions such as asthma, eczema, hormonal imbalances and arthritis, may actually stem from improper nutrition, food sensitivities and poor digestive tract health. Thus, digestive health is often the starting point for her treatments.
Dr. Lopez enjoys helping women through their pregnancies and the postpartum period. She has a special interest in pediatrics as she believes that starting naturopathic care early on in life can lead to the prevention of many ailments (allergies, asthma, etc) that are becoming so prevalent in our society.
She has experience treating many conditions such as allergies, eczema, psoriasis, asthma, metabolic disorders (hypoglycemia, diabetes), womens health issues (osteoporosis, menopause, PCOS, PMS, amenorrhea), bowel disorders (IBD, IBS, constipation) depression, stress and anxiety, anemia, chronic pain and many others.
Dr. Lopez is also fluent in Spanish and offers services in both languages. In her free time she enjoys reading, testing out new recipes, practicing yoga and raising her daughter. Dr. Lopez is licensed by the College of Naturopathic Physicians of B.C.(CNPBC), and is a member of the British Columbia Naturopathic Association (BCNA) and the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Medicine (CAND).
