About Almir Alicelebic
Working in the emergency department as a registered nurse for ten years has helped me appreciate the complexities of advanced chronic disease and the challenges facing our overburdened healthcare system.
I am a naturopathic primary care practitioner focusing on pain management, integrative cancer care, and irritable bowel syndrome.
I became a naturopathic doctor to pursue a deeper understanding of chronic disease prevention and treatment. During my naturopathic education, I was inspired by the resilience and wisdom of cancer survivors. I concentrated my practice on adjunctive cancer care, and provided complementary care to improve outcomes and quality of life for survivors of brain, ovarian, colorectal, and breast cancers.
I am a strong proponent of evidence-informed practice in naturopathic medicine. At St. Michael\'s Hospital Grand Rounds in March 2019, I presented Bridging the Gap: How Naturopathic and Conventional Medicine Can Coexist alongside Dr. Cristina Pop. We had an open discussion with a group of family doctors about the challenges, and benefits of integrating naturopathic medicine with conventional care in our current healthcare system. Our discussion was greatly productive, and the presentation was met with good feedback and some enthusiasm. If you are a healthcare professional or educator interested in this presentation, or if you have additional feedback for us, please contact me at info@almirsnature.com.
I grew up breathing the energizing air of Bosnia\'s hills and the Adriatic Sea. To this day, I feel uplifted by the struggle and balance that nature teaches us about. In the city, I cultivate vitality and connect to nature through martial arts, deep breathing, and meditation training. I enjoy nothing more than adventuring outdoors with my wife Lilly, daughter Evie, and puppy Umi.
